Car Boot Sale

1st & 3rd Sunday every month at Hand Stadium Car Park, Davis Lane, Clevedon.

We Need Nailsea Rock Musicians

I'm a 43 year old guitarist and my mate is a 41 year old bassist. We live in Nailsea and we are looking for a drummer, guitarist and singer of a similar age who live in Nailsea to form a covers band and have a laugh playing rock music in and around Nailsea.

We have a rough idea where we start by doing covers of songs from the mid-sixties (The Kinks, The Who, The Yardbirds, etc) and gradually work our way forwards adding covers of rock songs from later years - you know, Hendrix, Cream and Zep, ACDC, Saxon, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden and who knows, in ten years time we might find ourselves playing Slipnot covers in our fifties! That would be funny.

So even if you are a bit rusty now, there's a pretty gentle re-learning curve and the chance to spend your Saturday night bouncing round the county in the back of a dodgy van to play loud rock music in country pubs... and then bouncing all the way home again. What could be better? Tel: 01275 859629 and ask for Darren.

Bristol Freecycle

The worldwide Freecycle Network is made up of individual groups across the globe. It's a grassroots movement of people who are giving stuff for free. Each group is run by local volunteer moderators.

One rule: everything posted must be free. Whether it's a chair, a fax machine, piano, toys or an old door. Or, maybe you're looking to acquire something yourself? Respond to the posting directly and you just might get it. After that it is up to the giver to set up a time for passing on the treasure. Website: www.groups.yahoo.com/group/FreecycleBristol

Sing a Song is a new music group for young children and their families. It's a great introduction to music and singing for the pre-school child. Run by former Bristol Cathedral Music Scholar Debbie Smith, the group sits around in a circle to sing a mixture of well known rhyming, counting and action songs. The toddler group will have plenty of movement and actions, whilst the baby group will take a softer approach. Fresh from managing a music group in a different area, Debbie is keen to create a popular, fun, music group where at most sessions she will accompany the singing with her guitar. please note - no session on 9th April 08. Aerial Photograph

I wish to sell a b/w aerial photograph taken from the East. encompassing the Ridgeway, Whitesfield Rd, Union St, Goss Lane, the Cul-de-sac of Cherry Rd and another, predominately showing the Ridgeway completed housing scheme undertaken by the local authority of the time, to the South of Goss Lane are fields, to the immediate North of Ridgeway is a footpath off of Whitefield Rd leading to what looks like a small sewage treatment works and elsewhere, further North are fields which now may be developed as Orchard Rd, Moorlands Rd, Rock Avenue etc, North again is Kinghill, Pound Lane. Silver St and surrounding fields, allotments to the east of Whitesfield rd. I am not local to Nailsea(Frome) I have done my best to identify the Geographical areas by name, taken from a Web Page map of Nailsea, I purchased this photo about 4 yrs ago privately. I would say that it dates from the late forties - fifties but it is a guess, some or all of the houses are occupied (washing on the line) it is entitled "Long Ashton R.D.C. Housing Scheme. Nailsea" it was taken by "Aerofilms Ltd" 29 Old Bond St SW1.London, the photo itself is 20 x 16ins, mounted on card, plywood backed and corner gussetted, in an Oak frame 25 x 22ins o/a, sizes are approx, is behind clear glass and all original and untouched, I dont know if this is a one off or not. but I would think this may be of interest to Nailsea as a whole because it is a genuine part of your history! or to someone living in the photographed area. Interestingly enough theres not a vehicle in sight. Telephone: 01373302791. 07961878485. or e-mail: tonywilliams142@hotmail.com
